Healthy and Delicious School Snacks for Kids

Making kids choose healthy snacks over unhealthy, junk food is no easy task. If you are a parent, you would understand the effort that goes into making healthy snacks interesting for kids. Having said that, kids tend to choose healthy food on their own if they understand the benefits, and you can help them do this by including healthy food in their diet in interesting ways. By eating healthy, children will experience the effects of healthy food and make it a habit to pick healthy. Here’s a list of five healthy and easy snacks for kids:

Kale chips
Some kids might like kale in a salad or smoothie, but very few like it in soup or raw in a burger. Enter crispy homemade kale chips! We doubt any child can resist these healthy snacks that are also easy to make. Bake fresh kale leaves with a few teaspoons of olive oil, some sea salt, and minced garlic sprinkled on them. Once done, sprinkle some parmesan cheese over the chips, and see kids empty the plates in no time. Alternatively, you could try making a dip with a little olive oil, lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder, freshly ground black pepper, and sea salt. Add fresh dill leaves to this, dip the kale leaves in this, drain the excess and bake them until crisp.

Veggie sticks and dip
The taste of fresh vegetables is truly unbeatable, not to mention the health benefits that raw vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes provide. Simply cut up some cucumbers and peppers into one-inch sticks, throw in some baby carrots and cherry tomatoes. Let kids drench these in a refreshingly cool dip of plain Greek yogurt mixed with a little onion and garlic powder, freshly chopped or dried dill, parsley, or chives, a teaspoon of lime juice, some ground black pepper, and a pinch of powdered sea salt.

Popcorn
Not just for kids, popcorn is a popular snack among adults as well. Air fry it or use a minimal portion of healthy olive oil to make popcorn. Simply flavor it with a pinch of sea salt and some freshly grated cheddar cheese. This is a mouthwatering yet healthy and easy snack for both kids and adults!

Turkey cheese rolls
Slice an apple and rub some lemon over it to prevent oxidation and browning. Cut cheddar cheese into sticks the same size as the apple and keep aside. Slice deli turkey sheets so that they are big enough to wrap around the apple and cheddar and let your kids use a fork to spike through this parcel and bite into the rolls.

Hard-boiled eggs
For a healthy and easy snack for hungry kids, sprinkle some salt and pepper on hard-boiled eggs, and see them devour it in a jiffy. If you get a little more time and your kids enjoy spicy food, heat a small pan, add a spoon of olive oil, minced garlic, and a dash of red pepper flakes, put the sliced eggs face down in this and sauté for 30 seconds. Then, switch off the flame, garnish with fresh parsley or dried oregano, and voila! A healthy, protein-rich yet easy snack for kids is ready.
