The Best Spring Inspired Cocktails
Spring is the most versatile season for cocktails. Some days are warm and some days are cold, but as much as you can you’ll be out enjoying the weather with a cocktail in hand on your porch or back deck. Therefore, it’s best to rely on the seasonal fruits and herbs to make the best of the spring months. Here are some classic cocktails re-mixed with some spring inspired fruits:
Grapefruit margarita
Ingredients
White Tequila – 2 ounces
Grapefruit juice – 1 ounce
Lime juice – 1 ounce
Agave Syrup – 2 tsp
Simple syrup – 2 tsp
Ice cubes
Sea salt – 2 tsp (to rim the glass)
Lime – 2 quarter slices (to rub the rim of the glass)
Grapefruit – 3 slices (for garnishing)
Method
Rub the lime quarters on the rim of the glass. Then pour some sea salt on a plate and dip the rim so that the salt sticks to it firmly. Fill the glass with crushed ice and grapefruit slices and set aside.
Add the tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, agave syrup, and simple syrup into a shaker. Shake the mixture until the surface of the shaker turns frosty. Strain the mixture into the glass without dislodging the salt on the rim.
Kiwi mint mojito
Ingredients
White Rum – 2 ounces
Simple syrup – 4 tsp
Sparkling water – 8 ounces
Kiwi fruit – 6 (peeled and sliced, for garnishing)
Lime – 1 (sliced for garnishing)
Mint – 6 sprigs (for garnishing)
Crushed ice
Method
Place three pieces of Kiwi fruit at the bottom of a Boston Shaker glass along with 3 mint sprigs and muddle them. Pour lime, white rum, simple syrup, and crushed ice into the glass and shake until the surface of the shaker turns frosty. Then add the remaining kiwi slices into the shaker and shake well. Use a bar spoon to stir the mixture well and pour it into a tall glass. Garnish the glass with a few mint sprigs and enjoy your drink.
Strawberry daiquiri
Ingredients
White Rum – 2 ounces
Fresh lime juice – 1 ounce
Simple syrup – 1 ounce
Strawberry – 2
Strawberry – 1 (sliced for garnishing)
Ice cubes – 8
Method
Add the ice cubes, white rum, strawberries, lime juice, and strawberry into a blender and blend until the ingredients turn smooth. Pour the mixture into a wine goblet and garnish with a slice of strawberry.
Honey Bourbon Apricot
Ingredients
Bourbon – 2 ounces
Honey – 2 tsp
Fresh apricots – 4 (pitted and sliced)
Lime – 2 tsp
Ice cubes – 8
Fresh mint – 2 sprigs (for garnishing)
Angostura bitters – 4 drops
Crushed ice
Method
Add the apricots, honey, sugar, and ice cubes into a blender and blend until the mixture turns smooth. Pour the blend into a shaker and add the bourbon, lime, and angostura bitters and shake until the shaker turns cold. Pour the mix into a glass filled with crushed ice and serve.
Avocado punch
Ingredients
Gold rum – 2 ounces
Avocado (medium ripe) – 1 cup (sliced)
Lime juice – 2 tsp
Orange juice – 1 ounce
Simple syrup – 2 ounces
Ice cubes – 8
Orange – 1 (sliced for garnishing)
Method
Add the ice cubes, avocado slices, lime juice, orange juice, simple syrup, and gold rum into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the mix into a tall glass and garnish with a slice of orange and enjoy the spring!
